Moco Experience Map

Overview

 

This is a class-project to let us exploring the use of experience map. We designed a conceptual Application called " Moco" (Movie Community): red carpet premiere experience in the palm of your hand!

 

 

Duration: 2 week

My Role

 

  • Conducted user research through surveys and four interviews 

  • Created user persona, storyboards and experience map

  • Synthesized research report and come up with product requirement report

Persona

 

  • Jill, 20 years old

  • Attending a 4-year college

  • Extroverted and very social, has a lot of friends

  • Doesn’t have a lot of free time to relax

 

  • Alex, 28 years old

  • Finished a PhD degree in Communication

  • Passionate and curious about everything

  • Love new Applications, usually watch Netflix at home.

  • Attending a 4-year college

  • Not a social person, prefer to stay alone

  • Addicted to movies and books

 

  • Allen, 19 years old

  • Attending a 4-year university

  • Introverted, like running at her spare time

  • Only love comedy show

Movie watching without Moco Application

After using the Moco Applicatioon, here are the experiences:

**Adaption to Uber/Netflix/Tapingo/IMDB app

 

  • Open app

    • Create account/ insert student ID/location

    • Pick favorite genres

  • Picking movie

    • Find what mood you’re in/category/ suggest movie

    • Has synopsis, trailer, and movie times

    • App will be able to track your location to find theatre near you with showings

  • Tickets

    • Show how many seats are available, show you best time to go

    • 50% off for the first time user, also “one successful sharing” = “ one  50% off ”

    • Connect with friends calendars to find time

    • Social media aspect →  “omg seeing ____ with my boo thang”

    • Purchase ticket on phone with barcode, no need for line/printer

    • Tapingo → have food ordered ahead of time

  • Driving

    • App comes with driving instructions to get you there on time; itinerary

    • Connects with Uber to get you a ride to movie in time

    • Have reserved parking for app users, type in their license plate ahead of time

  • Process

    • No line

    • Pick up food

    • Show barcode

  • Watching

    • Chairs will have chargers in them for the mobile users

    • Chair arm will have a faint yellow indication light indicating a preferable time for bathroom

    • Chair arm will have a screen for food ordering.

REFLECTIONS

Understand the gap between thinking and doing is important

 

During the process of interviewing participants, I realized that there is a huge gap between what users are saying and what they are actually doing. People don't disclose their true thoughts for various reasons. They are afraid to let others know they have no idea about the website or they didn't realize that they have no idea. In this case, asking "follow-up" questions multiple times during the interview is a valuable lesson I learned.
